I'm curious as to what happens in the back end for next season. Whether we add someone from free agency or from Spezza/other trade to improve, which hopefully happens. Also what happens to both Gryba and Ceci? The team as it stands has 6 1-way contracts in Karlsson, Methot, Cowen, Phillips, Weircioch & Borowiecki. If Gryba signs with the Sens and they don't trade anyone away then I guess Ceci starts in the minors, but I thought the team had already told him to buy a house cause he's staying up with the big boys.

I still think Weircioch gets traded maybe in a package with Spezza, or packaged with Prince to get us another forward.

I thought people only used advanced stats to validate their opinions, not to question them.

Inexcusable that Cowen played nearly the whole year while Weircioch sat.

Talk about draft position bias.

You interpret data and stats, you don't "use" them.

If you're "using" it for any purpose other than seeing what it tells you, you're doing it wrong.

Cowen was probably being shoped and there weren't any takers. Sometime you play the one you sell. I don't think they are that stupid to let Cowen play even if he's horrible. Maybe Wierchioch was a pest in the room or couldn't take criticism form the coach. He's good, but there's always a reason behind every decisions. Wierchioch will play this year...no worries.

What would we like from them?

Cowen has never been shopped. They still believe in him.

@SunGarrioch: Murray says 4 to 5 teams interested in Spezza. Two or three serious. #NHL

Those three teams are:Ducks,Preds,Blues but the Rangers, despite being in the East will get in there

I agree. Pretty easy to figure out generally what the Preds, Blues Ducks can offer. But, I think the Rangers have the greatest need to do a big deal. They have huge cap problems and half a team to resign. A deal for Spezza with Ottawa holding half the cap and salary dollars would provide some relief for the Rangers.

But Murray needs to avoid taking back Dogs. No Richards or Nash.

I like Krieder a lot and all 4 of their top D men.

I think Bryan Murray would prefer to trade Spezza to a Western Conference: Anaheim, Dallas, Nashville, St.Louis or Phoenix,

So Sens Army should prepare to see the Spezza trade on June 27th at the draft in Philly.

The Rangers cap situation is actually very manageable if the intended Richards buyout occurs. If that buyout doesn't happen, then guys like Stralman and Pouilot might not be able to be re-sign.

I have always liked Jason Spezza, but he becomes a UFA next summer, and lately, has had injury issues. There is no way that a guy like Chris Kreider would even be consider in that type of deal, and I mean that as no disrespect to Spezza.

The Rangers may be in need of a center, but I don't think they have the prospect horse power right now to make that type of deal happen, and some of the younger guys on the roster, they just wouldn't trade in that type of deal. I could see them just pursuing Statsney if Richards is bought out.

Spezza would arguably be the best offensive player for the Rangers IF he were to be traded there. Which he won't, because IF he gets traded it will be to Western Conference team, and only to a Western Conference team.
